It seems that someone is working on copying Dell's build-to-order model in another industry: Cars. Build-to-Order Inc. is hoping to create an on-demand car manufacturing business with low inventory and quick arrival of parts from suppliers.
It works well for computers, but I wonder how well it works for cars?

Well, now that BlogShares is fully up and running, things seem to be going pretty well. I entered the “non-beta” version with a little over $4k in cash and I past $6k today. Woohoo! Today, a few blogs, tomorrow I shall rule the market!
Seriously, for being completely fake, BlogShares is quite entertaining. I might add that there is only a very limited quantity of asisaid.com shares left at a stunningly good price, so don't forget to get yours before supplies run out…
Update: Oops, sorry, I'm actually fresh out of asisaid.com shares. Put in your buy orders today so I can judge if I need to issue more shares (once I can).

It's just that BlogShares is going to go live in seven days and at that time, only cash will be carried over, so I've sold off most of my non-cash assets (as many as I could sell in one day without paying anything to do so). Not to worry, I'll be buying up your blog shares again after the May 1 launch.

A squad of American soldiers was patrolling along the Iraqi border. To their surprise, they found the badly mangled dead body of an Iraqi soldier in a ditch along side the road.
A short distance up the road, they found a badly mangled American soldier in a ditch on the other side of the road, who was still barely alive. They ran to him, cradled his blood-covered head and asked him what had happened.
“Well,” he whispered, “I was walking down this road, armed to the teeth. I came across this heavily armed Iraqi border guard. I looked him right in the eye and shouted, 'Saddam Hussein is an unprincipled, lying piece of trash!'”
“He looked me right in the eye and shouted back, 'Bill Clinton, Tom Daschle, Ted Kennedy and most of your Democrats are unprincipled, lying pieces of trash too!'”
“We were standing there shaking hands when the truck hit us.”

I just took the what-country-are-you quiz (thanks go to Jake), and guess what? I'm Japan! Yup, that's right. Just for fun, I also tried adjusting the answers and it took quite a few adjustments to get myself to be anything else… second choice? It seems if not Japan, I would be Germany. Hmm… (My actual “report” from the quiz site follows)

It seems the folks at Dr. Pepper, the people that thought up the idea of taking the words “under God” out of the Pledge of Allegiance on their cans (although sadly, e-mail rumors attack Pepsi for that instead), are at it again. This time, they are offering non-monetary payment to popular bloggers who promote the new Raging Cow flavored dairy drink without noting that they are being “paid” for doing so.

I just completed the Brainbench Personality Assessment. Both Kevin and Christopher tried this, so I decided to give it a whirl. You can try it by clicking the BrainBench “explore” button for individual use and filling out the free registration form — its fun, and it looks like BrainBench has some other nice stuff, so its worth the hassel. Anyway more comments and my results follow.

I thought this might start an interesting discussion. What's your favorite
book (not including the Bible)? For me, that's a toughie. There are several different books I'd consider mentioning, so at a loss for a particular one I can name, let me name a few in different topics…

Let's see, lots of stuff to mention, so lets try a Timback (sorta like a Slashback, but only… well, you get the point):
- My friend Ciaran Hamilton has brought his Journal back online at his theblob.org domain.
- I've done a number of interview on Open for Business you may find interesting. Take a look at the interview section on OfB to find interviews with Gael Duval of MandrakeSoft, Andreas Pour of the KDE League, and more.
- I redesigned Uninetsolutions.com with a dramatically different look. Take a look.
Well, I'm off to Administrative Night at
church. As I've said
before, I just love administrative night, although I'm tired enough tonight I could almost just stay home. Oh well, I can't really do that…
