I just read that the House is asking NASA to delay work on the Space Plane. Why would you delay this project when the existing project is quickly becoming antiquated and it was thought that the Space Plane wouldn't be done soon enough as-is?
Perhaps this will help pave the way to the rumored revival of the Apollo Space Program. According to this article from awhile back, NASA is considering an improved capsule as a stop gap before the Space Plane gets done. A side effect of such a plan would be that the U.S. could return to the moon in the not-so-distant future… something the shuttle (and the space plane in the future) isn't able to do. At any rate, perhaps this request by the House will encourage a new Apollo program. That's kind of exciting, I think.
And speaking of NASA, I had an idea on how to solve their budget problems. One word: sponsorship (click “Read More” for an example). What do you think? For as much as mere SuperBowls can draw in sponsorships, this kind of out-of-this-world advertising ought to be able to get an astronomical rate!

So there were these two boys — a Catholic and a Protestant. The two decide they wanted to learn more about the differences in their respective branches of Christianity, so they decided to attend each other's churches.
The first week, the Protestant boy went with the Catholic boy to mass. The Catholic boy explained the meaning of the various things the priest was doing, why they knelt, and so forth. The next week, the Catholic boy went with the Protestant boy to the Protestant church. The Protestant boy explained the meanings of various things the pastor was doing, and so forth. Then, right before the start of the sermon, the pastor took off his watch and placed it on the pulpit right in front of his notes so that he could see it very clearly.
The Catholic boy looked at the Protestant boy and said “What's that mean?”

I recently came across a link to a “Christian” site called “Corrupt Christian Music” (via Sisters' Weblog, where Susan was baffled about it — I agree!). I decided to see what it was and am really disgusted about the fact that this site tries to claim it is defending Christianity. I'm not linking to it because I don't wish to help its Google page rank, but I am mentioning its name in hopes that anyone running into it might also run into this site.

Well, tonight's the night. Just hours ago, Mac OS X Panther premiered. It should be really quite nice, especially with the built in X11 Server based on XFree86 4.3. It also includes Safari 1.0 (based on KDE's KHTML) and a lot of other goodies. I'm told by Apple that my copy should be in the mail — now I just have to wait for it. sigh
Anyone else reading this planning to give Panther a spin, or perhaps you already have it? I'd love to hear your experience with it.

What do you think? Today, the possibility of having a federal law enacted on spam became a lot more likely — is this a good thing? A bad thing? Something in between? I kind of have mixed feelings. It's good to crack down on spam, but at the same time, the government often creates a regulatory mess when it tries stuff like this…

Well, I'm just taking a very momentary break. I'm still pretty far behind due to the problems mentioned in my last post, so I must get back to work, but I thought I'd stop by and say “hi” first.
I'm just hoping tomorrow I can post a few good things at WIT!?!?!?! and also get to visit the 40 Days of Purpose board that Christopher set up….

What a whirlwind the last few days have been. I've been meaning to head over to Christopher's 40 Days of Purpose internet small group for two days but haven't ever had the chance. I've had several “planned” irons in the fire, plus the continued onslaught of the DoS attack against my host that has kept me busy keeping my clients informed as to what's going on (and trying to keep them calm).
Additionally, my Charter Pipeline internet service has been down more than it has been up lately, so I've been offline a lot over the last week or so. sigh Just hoping things calm down a bit later this week…

Well, Christopher is busy this week, so he invited me (as well as some really great bloggers, a few of which are on my blogroll) to “sub” for him. I just put up my first post; it's about reading blogs. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, so why not stop by and give your comments, here.

On CS-FSLUG, someone started a thread on how people got started using GNU/Linux. My story got a bit carried away, length-wise, so I thought I would post it here instead. If you'd like to know how I went from a Pro-Microsoft kind of guy to a staunch supporter of GNU/Linux, read on!
