Nameless

By Timothy R. Butler | Posted at 23:2:8

Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.

-T.S. Eliot

These lines came to mind tonight, for more than one reason, and so I thought I would post them.

Re: Nameless

Hmmm. I have no hair to part; I love peaches; I don't own white pants and there's no beach nearby. The closest thing to mermaids I find are the chubby moms in the pool at the trailer park. I guess it's not “I grow old” but I'm already there.

Re: Nameless

I too love peaches. I have a bunch of fresh ones right now — the nearby part of Illinois is famous for theirs and boy are they tasty!

Perhaps I too, “grow old… Igrow old.” But so far, I do not “wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.” :)
