Hint Added; New Question

By | Posted at 18:40:30

For those of you who were wondering about question #2, I have a hint for you. I posted it in the comments.

And now a new question: What was the theological system that Thomas Jefferson adhered to and what is its most closely related organization today? [10 pts.]

No Googling again. And Flip, I promise to think of some less Ameri-centric ones.

RE: Hint Added; New Question

About the new question: The theological system is Deism, and its most closely related organization today could be Freemasonry, or even the Unitarian Universalist Association of America.

RE: Hint Added; New Question

Hmmm. This one is subject to debate, actually. I would say it was a brand of Deism that took other religions seriously as very good social forces to keep “lesser mortals” out of mischief. I personally believe TJ looked down his nose at the followers of Jesus, and preferred to believe he was more enlightened than most. I agree with Eduardo, though I really don't care about points.

RE: Hint Added; New Question

Eduardo gets the points. I was thinking the UUA for the second part (which seems to fit Ed's point as well). 10 pts.
