Missing
By | Posted at 22:52:45
Well, I've been all but missing from the blogosphere, so maybe this is appropriate.
Please, please forgive me,
But I won’t be home again.
Maybe someday you’ll have woke up,
And, barely conscious, you’ll say to no one:
“isn’t something missing? “You won’t cry for my absence, I know -
Even though I’d be sacrificed,
You forgot me long ago.
Am I that unimportant…?
Am I so insignificant…?
Isn’t something missing?
Isn’t someone missing me?
You won’t try for me, not now.
Though I’d die to know you love me,
I’m all alone.
Isn’t someone missing me?
—Evanescence, Missing
How are y'all anyway?
If you're forgotten, it's only because the real living person, who changes day to day under God's grace, has been too long gone from our sight.
I'm a little antsy from lack of activity — Net activity, that is.
I've never been any good at poetry, except maybe for the Raven, so let me see if I got this right.
You're talking to a man on a pole about being conscience about human sacrifices??
Somebody get me the cliff notes.
Ed: Well, you've never seen me, so…
It's nice to have you completely back on the 'net, by the way.
Mark: I should have paid better attention, the lyrics I copied off a site were slightly flawed. The corrected version sounds a bit better. It still isn't exactly the best poetry in the world, but it has a catchy tune to go with it. Poetry isn't done until it's like Donne.
Odd you should mention the Raven. It seems like I just saw an allusion to that either today or yesterday. I can't remember exactly where, though.
I have been extra weepy because of your state of missingness.
I too have been struggling to maintain my online presence this week. It has been a bit of a chore.
Thanks, Christopher.
I need to get back in a blogging routine. When I'm in such a routine, even busyness doesn't cause blogging to seem a chore.
